Oncocount

Know your cancer, own your journey

Oncocount is a useful tool for physicians and patients alike. By detecting the presence of circulating tumour cells (CTCs) and quantifying their concentration in the bloodstream, this diagnostic tool offers vital information about the presence of CTCs. The higher the number of CTCs, the higher the spread of the disease.

How does Oncocount work?

Oncocount, a follow-up test and monitoring tool assessess the effectiveness of the treatment protocol and possible recurrence early.

Oncocount detects the presence of circulating tumor cells (CTCs) and their concentration in blood. It is used for diagnostic purposes.

It provides two crucial pieces of information: the presence of CTCs and their concentration.

At RGCC, we employ cutting-edge flow cytometry technology to isolate CTCs. This process yields a sample of cells that are 97-99% pure and 99% viable, paving the way for further tests like molecular analysis, immunophenotyping, gene expression assays, and sensitivity assessments to various treatment agents.

What details does the test provide?

CTC Count

The test identifies and measure the circulating tumor cells (CTC) count in the blood. The increase or decrease in the count of CTCs helps clinicians to know whether the given treatment is effective or ineffective.

If the CTC count shows an increase in number, then it indicates the given treatment has not been effective and not working. On the other hand, if there is a decrease in CTC count, it indicates that the treatment has worked and has been effective.

If the decrease in CTC count is less than expected then it means the treatment needs to be fine-tuned to be effective.

How does it help?

Follow-up tool to monitor the cancer disease burden.

Assessment of cancer treatment response.

Early warning test for relapse and recurrence.

Cancer stem cell (CSC) markers study on specific cancer will help us to monitor the nature of the tumor behavior.
